Longevity Research

At Zest, we’re redefining the detection of cognitive decline.
In partnership with the University of Cambridge, we have launched PREMAZ: a digital cognitive assessment  measureing Memory Precision, one of the earliest and most sensitive markers of brain aging. It picks up what standard tests miss, giving our users a powerful head start in protecting long-term brain health.

We also collate and share the latest longevity breakthroughs from world-leading scientists. We are proud to showcase the research that underpins the Zest ecosystem.

1
Pilot
In partnership with Cambridge, Zest is delivering the Precision Memory Test through its app to a pilot group of 100 participants. This study is exploring usability and ease of access to our new app based DCA to ensure the test is accessible and repeatable in diverse populations .

PREMAZ
2
Validation
To enable wider adoption, Zest is scaling the test to 3,000 participants via its mobile app. This phase aims to validate the PREMAZ test on a mobile device for clinical adoption. This data will be used in the 7th peer reviewed publication on the PREMAZ test, confirming it's validity and accuracy for detecting cognitive decline earlier than current gold standard cognitive tests.

Summary:
This national study found that higher ApoB levels increase cardiovascular mortality risk, confirming its role in atherosclerosis. However, the relationship with all-cause mortality followed a U-shape—meaning both very low and very high ApoB levels were linked to higher risk, with the lowest mortality observed around 108 mg/dL. These findings highlight the importance of balanced lipid management for longevity, not just lowering ApoB at all costs.

Summary:
This large UK study of over 1.8 million adults found that higher LDL ("bad") cholesterol levels measured before age 65 were modestly associated with an increased risk of developing dementia more than a decade later. These findings support the idea that managing LDL cholesterol in midlife could help reduce long-term dementia risk, reinforcing its role as a modifiable risk factor for brain health.

Summary:
This genetic evidence supports that higher LDL-c levels reduce lifespan and longevity. In a general population that is not selected for increased cardiovascular risk, there is likely to be a net lifespan benefit of LDL-c lowering therapies, particularly for PCSK9 inhibitors, although randomized controlled trials are necessary before modification of clinical practice.

Summary:
This study from the Framingham Heart Study shows that managing cholesterol and glucose levels as early as your 30s and 40s may significantly reduce your risk of developing Alzheimer’s disease later in life. Higher HDL ("good") cholesterol was linked to a lower risk of Alzheimer's, while elevated glucose in midlife increased the risk. The research underscores the value of proactive metabolic health management to protect long-term brain function.

Summary:
A major study shows that people with lower nonfasting triglyceride levels live longer—whether it’s due to lifestyle or genetics. Those with the lowest levels had up to a 57% lower risk of death, likely thanks to reduced remnant cholesterol. Tracking these biomarkers helps you take action early and stay ahead of aging.

Summary:
averaging multiple triglyceride (TG) measurements over time is a better predictor of cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk than relying on a single test. In a cohort of over 15,000 adults followed for up to 10 years, higher average TG levels were linked to greater risk of heart attack, stroke, or cardiovascular death—even at levels below the traditionally “safe” threshold of 150 mg/dL. The findings highlight the value of long-term TG tracking, especially for individuals aiming to reduce their risk of CVD through early intervention.

Frequently Asked Questions

Your kit includes everything you need to collect a small blood sample at home, safely and easily. Inside you’ll find a lancet, collection cards, alcohol swabs, bandages, and a pre-paid return envelope. No lab visits, no hassle.

Once your blood sample is returned, we analyze key biomarkers linked to aging and combine them with data from your wearable devices and in-app functional performance tests. Our machine learning algorithm calculates your Functional Age a snapshot of how old your body really is compared to your chronological age. We also provide a peronsalized protocol for you to improve your scores.

Zest blood tests anlayze clinically relevant blood biomarkers including:

Inflammation: CRP
Metabolic health: HbA1c, fasting glucose, triglycerides
Cardiovascular risk: LDL, HDL, ApoB
Liver & protein status: Albumin
Hormones (for men & women): Testosterone, Oestradiol, SHBG, DHEAS

We recommend retesting every 3 to track your progress, assess what’s working, and update your personalized protocol. Functional age is dynamic, and improvements are often visible within just a few months of following your plan.

All of your results, scores, and recommendations are delivered in the Zest app. You’ll get a breakdown of your Functional Age, biomarker analysis, and a tailored plan covering supplements, training, recovery, nutrition, and sleep.

Zest offers targeted longevity supplements designed to support the areas that impact your biological age the most, such as cellular energy, inflammation, brain health, and hormone balance. Your personalized protocol will recommend the right supplements based on your test results.
