Longevity Research

Zest conducts scientific research, in partnership with the University of Cambridge in the UK. These studies investigate declining cognitive performance with age. We are also committed to sharing leading peer reviewed research into human longevity from doctors and longevity scientists across the globe, as part of our commitment to make longevity science accessible to all.

Zest ENHANCE studies

ENHANCE
1
Pilot
In partnership with Cambridge, Zest is delivering the Precision Memory Test through its app to a pilot group of 300 participants. This study is exploring how memory performance changes with age and how it relates to broader markers of brain aging.

2
Validation
To enable wider adoption, Zest is scaling the test to 3,000 participants via its mobile app. This phase aims to validate early findings and establish Cambridge’s Precision Memory Test as a powerful, accessible tool for tracking brain aging in the general population.

Summary:
This study found that aging is linked to declines in working memory, reduced gray matter volume in key brain regions, and lower activity in major brain networks. Specifically, the medial orbitofrontal cortex, thalamus, and other regions were shown to mediate age-related differences in memory tasks. These findings highlight structural and functional brain changes that underlie memory decline with age and suggest potential early markers for identifying individuals at risk of cognitive decline.

Summary:
This large-scale UK Biobank study found that consistent sleep-wake timing (sleep regularity) is a stronger predictor of mortality than sleep duration. People with the most regular sleep patterns had up to 48% lower risk of all-cause mortality, 39% lower cancer mortality, and 57% lower cardiometabolic mortality, even after adjusting for health and lifestyle factors. Unlike duration alone, regularity showed a clear and independent impact on longevity, highlighting it as a key target for improving health and survival.

Summary:
This study found that reduced memory precision is an early sign of cognitive aging, detectable from midlife. Using tasks that measured how accurately people remembered object details and locations, researchers showed that deficits in perceptual and memory fidelity impact both short-term and long-term memory. Standard memory tests were less sensitive to these subtle declines. Precision-based tasks may offer a more effective way to detect early cognitive decline than traditional testing.

Summary:
lower grip strength is linked to higher odds of depression in middle-aged and older adults across Europe. While grip strength showed only weak ability to accurately identify depression, specific cut-off values (e.g. 43.5 kg for men and 29.5 kg for women aged 50–64) were associated with significantly lower depression risk both at baseline and four years later. Grip strength may be useful as a general screening tool for vulnerability to depression, but it should not be used alone to diagnose it.

Summary:
lower grip strength is strongly associated with increased risk of all-cause and disease-specific mortality, including cardiovascular, respiratory, and several types of cancer. Every 5 kg drop in grip strength significantly raised mortality risk, especially in younger individuals. Muscle weakness was linked to worse outcomes across nearly all conditions. Adding grip strength to traditional risk models improved their ability to predict mortality and disease, highlighting its potential as a simple, powerful tool for early risk screening in clinical practice.

Summary:
lower handgrip strength is strongly linked to a higher risk of all-cause mortality across all age and sex groups. The most effective predictors were simple measures like average (HGS) and maximum grip strength (MGS), followed by grip strength adjusted for height squared (HGS/HT²). Individuals in the lowest 20% for grip strength had more than double the risk of death. Maintaining strong grip strength may play a key role in lowering mortality risk.

  • Your chosen longevity supplement stack, delivered monthly.
  • Zest longevity blood panel delivered every 3 months. This is an at-home finger-prick blood test consisting of the 9 blood biomarkers most closely linked to healthspan and lifespan.
  • Access to the Zest app.
  • Zest biological age calculation (coming soon).

The supplement subscription only includes supplements and app access, no blood tests. Without the blood biomarkers, we are unable to calculate biological age.

Mainstream supplements are typically designed to augment ingredients which you could regularly find in your diet to help you meet your daily recommendations. Longevity molecules are different because:

1) you don’t find any of these ingredients in your regular diet and
2) there are no established daily recommendations of these ingredients.

These ingredients have come out of recent cutting-edge research on how to biologically slow the aging process. There aren’t any government guidelines recommending certain levels of these ingredients to promote health, since they are so new and they target the aging process as a whole rather than focusing on a specific disease. Our ingredients cannot be found in most supermarkets or drug stores.

  • At 7.2 g grams per dose, we have the highest amount of pure active ingredients of any other longevity company on the market, so you’re actually getting therapeutic doses that make a difference.
  • We have the purest and highest quality ingredients, and provide purity reports and 3rd party Lab Testing as well as sourcing information for all ingredients.
  • We don’t mess around with vitamin gummies, green juice blends, or other influencer fads which aren’t backed by science. We only supply the real deal, high quality and therapeutic doses backed by 100+ clinical trials.
  • We separate our supplement packs into hydrophobic and hydrophilic to optimize absorption and reduce gastrointestinal upset. This means the ingredients are actually getting into your cells, unlike for many multivitamin companies which just cause you to make expensive pee.
  • We have expertly curated our supplement stacks to target all 12 root causes of aging, making you biologically younger on the inside.

Zest’s functional age calculation is the most accurate and holistic biological age score on the market, and the only one which takes into account your cognitive function as well as your physical health. We use a combination of blood biomarkers, digital biomarkers and functional biomarkers (including memory tests) which we run through our machine learning algorithm to give you the most accurate and research-backed biological age measurement yet. Our blood test includes markers for your cholesterol levels, hormone levels, liver enzymes, and other tests grounded in 100+ years of research (the OG science, not just the latest fads). We then add this to our digital biomarkers such as resting heart rate, sleep, mood, VO2 max score, and other metrics which give real insight into your day to day functionality. Finally we include grip strength and some cognitive tests as part of our “functional biomarkers” and together this makes up the data that goes into our functional age algorithm to give you a result for your biological age.

At Zest, we want to make longevity easy. We have a team of medical doctors and longevity scientists constantly examining the latest literature to determine which ingredients should go into the ultimate life-extending supplement stack. We continuously update these packs as new research emerges to ensure the ingredients you’re taking are at the forefront of medical and scientific research. No need to spend hours doing your own research, we are the experts and we have you covered! Just subscribe to the membership and Zest takes care of the rest.

The Zest app is downloadable from all countries. Currently our blood tests and supplement packs are currently only available in the USA and Canada.
